Open Day at Blythburgh Station

July 13 @ 10:30 am - 4:00 pm

Railway Open Day

Free entry to site, free tea, coffee and cake. Our demonstration goods train will be ‘hauled through the power of the sun’: the 88-year-old battery-electric locomotive is now charged by solar panels. For the first time – shunting demonstration – “how the railway moved the goods”. Re-instated main line track, platform, and goods sidings. Narrow gauge goods wagons. Award-winning restored
original Goods Shed. Heritage railway display, refreshments, railway book sale, and films in the Village Hall. Enlarged live steam model railway. Display of found artefacts.

See our progress in the unearthing and restoration of this unique and historic 1879 narrow gauge station.

How to find us: the station is on the northern edge of Blythburgh village. It is signposted off the A12. The 99A bus from Halesworth and Southwold stops about 100 yards away (NB – no service on Sundays).
Car parking is in Holy Trinity Church car park and the adjacent field. Blue badge disabled parking ONLY onsite.
