Heritage Day Event

Saturday 7th September sees the 2024 Halesworth Heritage Day. Halesworth will be buzzing with free history and heritage events across the town. Pop into Ichameleon in the Thoroughfare which will be the towns ‘Heritage Hub’ for the weekend. Remember to pick up or print out a programme and complete the Heritage Day Quiz on the back using the towns new Wayfinding information boards to help you find the answers.

Guided Walks & Talks

There will be guided walks covering the Industrial History of Millennium Green and its previous Victorian railway and the Blyth Navigation system, the Market Place and Chediston Street and the Hooker House trail. Illustrated talks at The Cut Art Centra of how it came to be, take place on Saturday as well as talks throughout the day at the Halesworth & District Museum, housed at the Train Station. Guided Tours of the infamous Bank House, previously Gurneys Bank will also run.

Exhibitions

The Library is home to a historic photography exhibition and a show of local artists work is available in the ancient Steeple End Art Gallery.

Open Days

St Mary’s Church will house displays, offer bell-ringing opportunities, a repair cafe and antiques valuations. The Southwold to Halesworth Narrow Gauge Railway will also have an open day and model railway event at Blythburgh Station on Sunday 8th September.
